Modern Fabianism Revealed ..

President Obama, who has confessed to being a “Progressive” and who has commented enough on Marxism and Bolshevism to effect upon us who really listen to what he says that he has, even if he is not a socialist himself, at the very least, an admiration for left wing Socialism. He and his socialistic views have suffered some real political set backs recently.  His radical socialistic agenda including “Cap and Trade;” “Card Check;” “Economic Stimulus” under the euphemism of “Jobs Bill” and “Health Care” are either failing or near failure.  It is obvious that he can’t get his agenda through the Congress without Legislative or Executive trickery of some sort, which by the way, has been threatened.  His program is done … unless … he can get the Republicans on board.  What will be his tactic?

His method will be Fabianism … I recently explained my view of Fabianism in my article “What can be done?”  I repeat that explanation here:

… instead of advocating violent overthrow or sweeping changes, they opted to follow the methods of people of the ilk of George Bernard Shaw who was instrumental in the British “Fabian Society.”

The Roman General Quintus Fabius Maximus was the man who had finally defeated Hannibal’s invasion of Rome.  Every time that the Roman army had confronted Hannibal in open battle, it was resoundingly humiliated by disastrous military defeat.  Fabius hit upon a strategy of non-confrontation, hitting outlying units and using general attrition that finally gave him and the Romans victory.

In modern times, British Fabians (and their American cousins) formulated a political policy of asking, in seeming good faith, for more than they intended; a bushel, and settling for more than they had, a peck; then a hundredweight and settling for a bushel.  They created crises and then rode in wearing shining armor on a white horse and “solved the problem.”

In this manner they have slowly, but with much success, been co-opting the governments of many modern states, not in the least, that of the United States of America.

In Obama’s case, he didn’t start little, he started big … he used a tactic that we used to call “the Bum’s rush” or what I like to call the chicken little “the sky is falling, the sky is falling” syndrome.  In his original efforts, he was able to stampede the Congress into spending an incredible multi-trillion dollar amount to “save the economy” from the “greatest disaster since the ‘Great Depression.'”  He used his greatest weapon, his gift for demagoguery, appearing in public forums an incredible number of times, in nearly 500 appearances, to promote his agenda.  His continual presence, like a ubiquitous soap commercial, and the sleazy machinations of his Congressional sycophants, bribing, cajoling, pressuring and strong-arming the membership of the national legislature finally culminated in negative reaction.  The “Tea Parties” arose and the electors in three very important States voted against those who supported his agenda.  When Massachusetts elected the Republican Scott Brown to the Senate, the jig was up.  He couldn’t pass his monstrous bills.  A new tactic was needed.

He has invited the Republicans to a conference to settle the differences between their ideas and his agenda.  My guess is that they will go to his meeting and one or two of them, the RINO’s, will be co-opted.

Let’s look at it to see how his Fabian approach will work for “Heath Care Reform.”

  1. Health care is very expensive.  (I would submit mostly because of Federal regulation)
  2. Prudent people provide for the eventuality of health problems by buying insurance.
  3. Insurance is expensive. (Made doubly so by freeloaders; ambulance chasers and regulation)
  4. Insurance costs are spiraling ever higher.
  5. Something has to be done.
  6. As with the fabled chicken, after being hit on the head from above and seeing only the sky, in this instance the cause, we are told, is obviously evil doctors and insurance companies.
  7. Because the “rich” doctors and insurance companies are at fault, there should be a “law.”
  8. Since only the government can make a law, the natural conclusion of those in power, is that we should socialize the system. (If we buy this, the government will gobble us up as surely as the fox ate the chicken.)

So what is the problem?

  1. Almost everyone agrees that health care costs are becoming a burden.
  2. Any politician who is not sensitive to the problem is in jeopardy of his job.
  3. In order to get legislation, both the Democrats and the Republican must compromise.

What is the real scenario?

In the first place, national health care is un-constitutional.  There is no place in the Constitution where any social program is authorized, quite to the contrary … the Tenth Amendment says: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”  This point could not be clearer.  If you want governmental health care, then appeal to your State Legislature.  It is a cinch that most Democrats, and to a lesser extent the Progressives, do not understand this point of Constitutional interpretation and, sadly as well, many in the Republican Party.  Certainly, very few in the general population … and almost none in the media understand.  The Congress ignores this point, the State Legislatures don’t seem to notice and, finally, we who care should live in trepidation of the judgment of the Supreme Court to stop this atrocity because of its Progressive members.

Secondly, the impetus for the legislation is a lie.  The support for this legislation was bought on the premise that 30 million un-insured citizens would be insured. (Another lie.)  The fact is that millions of citizens who want to be or should be, will not be covered.  Other millions who don’t want it will be forced into it and forced to pay premiums for not only themselves, but for any slack in the system.  This feature is also un-constitutional.  There is no language in the Constitution that was crafted to compel any individual to do anything.  On the contrary, the document was carefully crafted to protect individuals from the government.

Thirdly, it can’t be paid for.  Any thinking person should realize that if a person can’t buy something for lack of funds, he certainly cannot be provided for by having the government confiscate a large portion of his wealth by taxation in order to obtain the funds to buy some largess for him.  Taxation can be equated to thievery.  If a robber steals your money, will you be able to buy as many things as you could have if you still had all your money?  If he stole your money and then gave back a portion of it, would you be as well off as before?  At least you will have met the robber face to face … but would you really trust a faceless bureaucrat to use the money taken from you for your benefit?  Of course, the people running our government know that if they tax you in order to buy your health care for you, you will soon rebel.  So the government tells you that they will rob the rich and spend their money on your health care.  However, those who run the numbers, especially the bureaucrats hired to do so, know that the rich do not have the wealth to pay the bill.  The liars get the public on board by appealing to their avariciousness to take from the rich and give to the poor; actually they are  plundering one class to enrich another by their thievery.  After they have gained popular support by their class warfare, and after their scheme falls short of funds, they borrow the additional money needed to pay the bill, generally the majority of the funds, from your children’s future, by pledging the “faith and credit” of the United States.  This way nobody is taxed to pay the bill … presently.

Nonetheless, the Fabians will rant and rave.  They care not about the legality of their actions nor of the impossibility of paying for their schemes.  They will accuse their opponents of being merchants of obstructionism and “NO.”  If their opponents make a principled stand against them, they will demonize their character.  They will accuse their opponents of unwillingness to “compromise.”  For the past century, in this country, school children have been taught that politics is the “art of compromise.”  The opponents of the Fabians have been very slow to perceive the tactics being used against them.   Many feel compelled to “make government work” and t0 compromise.  Once that is done the Fabians have achieved their goals … freedom has taken another incremental step into the abyss of Socialism.

So what is the likely outcome?

The Fabians have articulated a national emergency, which did not formerly exist and presented it as a national crisis.  They have made its interpretation impossible by proposing a law consisting of over 2500 pages of legalese, where, as any person familiar with legislation knows, every “and” or “or” or “shall” or “may”; period, comma, colon, semi-colon or hyphen, let alone the words, have meaning.  A bill of incalculable “unintended consequences.”  And finally by parliamentary maneuver have made it impossible to be read or digested before being voted upon.  This in the supposedly most open and deliberative legislative bodies in all human history.  It is a good bet that no Congressman or Senator has read the bill and a certainty that none understands or could understand it.

The President’s minions were poised to enact this law in the manner just described until Scott Brown became Senator.  Senator Brown announced that his vote, as his vote could do, would be cast to stop this generational tragedy from occurring and in doing so, killed the bill as written.

It is a matter of speculation and debate whether or not the administration realistically believed that they could pass the original bill, but they came exceedingly close … from their point of view, “the good ole college try.”  Now the President has invited his opponents, the Republicans, to come together and “compromise.”

The Republicans, if they truly believe in the Constitution, should absolutely refuse to even meet with these people.  They should never even consider a manufactured pseudo national crisis that is designed to circumvent the Constitution … that can’t be paid for.  But, I suspect some of them either are willing socialists or will be duped into passing a watered down, much simpler “health care” bill.  That will prove that they are “responsible,” that they “hear the people,” and are not the party of “NO.”

The Democrats, the satraps of the Fabian Socialists, who asked for their bushel, will have their peck.  The Fabians will have very much more socialism than they had before … the camel’s nose will be under the tent … in a year or two they can try again and get some more.

It’s kind of like being “a little bit pregnant” …
